A closer look

A little more
about Literature.

What texts do you teach?

Any text. We learn and study the texts each student is studying, so your text list never limits how much you can learn from the best.

What’s the difference between a lecture and a tutorial?

Lectures are theory-driven: they introduce the critical theory and frameworks behind each Area of Study, and the lesson plan and materials are in the LMS beforehand. Tutorials put that into practice through close analysis and essay writing, so you learn to bring theoretical ideas into your own analytical paragraphs.

Are classes in groups or one-on-one?

Both lectures and tutorials are group classes. Each has its own job: the lecture builds the ideas, and the tutorial is where you practise using them in your writing.

Are classes online or in person?

All classes are online. We don’t currently have an in-person office.

Which class suits my year level?

Units 3 & 4: 2-hour lecture and 1-hour tutorial each week, Units 1 & 2: 1-hour lecture and 1-hour tutorial each week and Junior (Years 8–10): 1-hour lecture and 1-hour tutorial each week.

How does feedback work?

You’ll have frequent opportunities to submit work as assigned in the LMS. Marks, comments and annotations come back on your own work, so you can see exactly what to do next. Communication outside of class is included too.

What does “From” mean in the fees?

Fees are charged on the basis that a month is four weeks of classes. When a payment period has five weeks, the fifth week is charged at the weekly rate (the monthly fee divided by four):

  • Units 3 & 4: $225 for a four-week month, or $281.25 for a five-week month ($56.25 a week).
  • Units 1 & 2, Junior (Years 8–10): $175 for a four-week month, or $218.75 for a five-week month ($43.75 a week).

These are base charges; extras such as consultations may cost more.

Do you offer free trials?

Yes, in effect: you don’t pay until after your first week. If the structure doesn’t work for you, you can un-enrol after week 1 without paying anything.

Is the enrolment fee per subject?

Yes. The one-time $50 enrolment fee applies to each subject you enrol in, and the Summer Intensive counts on its own. For example, English and Physics would be $100 in enrolment fees, as would the Summer Intensive and English during the year.

Can I start with the Summer Intensive?

Yes. Summer Intensive enrolments for Literature are open now.

Reviews

daniel and rebecca are genuinely the smartest, most caring tutor(s) i’ve ever met. they both are absolutely gods at lit/eng cause they study it at uni, i swear they know the subject with so much depth — they’re not just graduates who did well in VCE, but uni lit students who have honours degrees in their subject. i accredit my results to them so so much, because they were pushing me so intellectually and really expanded my insights on literature to the point that i’m even consider studying it in uni! i cannot recommend them enough!!
